At ARIAM, we believe values matter because they shape not just what an organization does, but how it operates — and in a moment of rapid technological change, that “how” is the difference between being effective and being sidelined.
Our Members represent many different industries and approaches to the arts and media, but we all have one thing in common: We want to ensure that AI is developed, deployed and used responsibly and that there is a sustainable future for human creativity.
Creativity matters. Technological innovation matters. Both things are true. ARIAM believes that human creativity and technical innovation can not only co-exist, but together they can shape a more vibrant cultural and economic future. We are committed to finding ways for that to happen.
Tech’s motto is to “move fast and break things.” We don’t believe in breaking things, but we understand the need to move now and fast to deliver on our mission. ARIAM is not a think tank – it’s a “do-tank” – turning ideas into tangible narratives, policies, and outcomes that protect human-centered content creation, intellectual property rights and consumers, particularly children.
Big problems require smart people taking big swings to find the right solutions. At ARIAM, we are brave. We understand that the landscape is incredibly complicated, but we are willing to step into the arena, consider all solutions, and to learn from history. We will not let “perfect” be the enemy of “good enough” – we will take “good enough” everyday and keep challenging ourselves to make it better.
At ARIAM, we work on complex issues but prioritize clarity. We don’t hide behind jargon or “lawyer speak.” We do good work not because we make things sound complicated, but because we make them easy to understand.
The creative and technological landscapes evolve quickly. ARIAM remains agile and forward-looking, always learning, adjusting, and leading with clarity and confidence.
We understand the importance of prioritizing those most at risk in moments of technological transition. All our Members have audiences for their works, and we understand the importance of protecting vulnerable audience members (e.g., children, teens, youth). We also want to ensure that the world remains a place where new artists, authors, and creators just starting out have a fair chance to thrive in the AI era.
Our strength lies in collaboration. ARIAM exists to empower, and to unite creators, companies, and innovators around shared values and common goals. Together, we are stronger, smarter, and more effective.
We work to uphold the rule of law and support frameworks that do the same.
